The Park vision, “to develop a unique recreational venue and regional destination that caters for a wider range of adventure and education activities, in a managed sustainable way.”
Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council jointly purchased the huge block of land in 2004, with the support of naming rights sponsor TECT (Tauranga Energy Consumers Trust) and Bay Trust.
Making this vision a reality is well underway. The councils have been working with many user groups setting up facilities at the Park including creating mountain biking, walking and equestrian trails.
A family-friendly motorcycle area has also been established by Council, which is now managed by The Tauranga Motorcycle Club, along with more advanced trails.
All club target shooting ranges are now operational and motorsport and four wheel drive facilities are being developed.
Adrenalin Forest have been operating their high wire adventure course at the Park since opening in November 2011 and the Tauranga Model Aircraft Club are now flying from the Park.
A one of its kind in New Zealand in terms of size, diversity of terrain and the potential to host motorised sports and other events and recreations, the TECT All Terrain Park is a unique place.
