Tauranga Equestrian Sports Association (TESA) works with Park Management to provide facilities for horse riders in the North Western Corner of the Park. TESA acknowledges the generous support of Park Management.
The following facilities are currently available at the equestrian area of the Park:
- Horse pens in the gated parking area
- A large shelter and picnic table
- A round yard
- Water for stock
- Approximately 20-25km of horse trails
All equestrian tracks are open for walkers and runners but not mountain bikers please, for safety reasons. Signage is not yet complete on all tracks but TESA is working with Park Management to complete signage and maintenance of the equestrian tracks.
Any clubs wishing to hold organised events using the equestrian facilities and tracks, please book through TESA (contact Veronica Moore), to avoid clashes with other groups. Pre-booked events will be published on the Events Page.
Please note the area to the right of this page, for any possible Park or track closures, due to weather, commercial or other events.
Riders are asked to stay clear of the Lions Tree Grove, near the Adrenalin Forest.
There is a park map located inside the equestrian shelter and at the Arrival Centre at the beginning of Whataroa Road, just inside the entrance to the Park.
Public toilets are located at the equestrian parking area and the Arrival Centre, for your convenience.
There is currently no charge for use of the Park.
The Park main gate is closed at night and opened in daylight hours only. Summer hours are from 7am to 9pm, including Labour Weekend to Easter. Winter hours are from 8am to 5pm.
