Equestrian

If you enjoy horse riding, you’ll love the facilities set up at the TECT All Terrain Park for your enjoyment by the Tauranga Equestrian Sports Association (TESA).

For equestrians, the following facilities are currently operational in the park:

  • Horse pens in the gated parking area
  • Approximately 15km of horse trails are open to the public for horse riding or walking
  • Another 9km of horse trails have recently been constructed - these trails are now open

TESA is about to embark on another round of trail construction subject to Council's approval.  They hope to construct another 10 to 13 km of horse trails before June 2013.  Next on the agenda is a grassed area near the car park and pre-training / training level cross country type jumps at various locations throughout the equestrian trail network.

So that you can navigate your way around the park and pinpoint equestrian facilities, there is a park map located at the Arrival Centre at the beginning of Whataroa Road, just inside the entrance to the park and inside the equestrian shelter.

Public toilets are located at the Arrival Centre and at the equestrian parking area for your convenience.

There is to be no unauthorised target shooting in the park. Hunting is NOT PERMITTED anywhere within the park boundaries.

There is currently no charge for use of the park.

The Park main gate is closed at night and opened in daylight hours only.  Summer hours are from 7am to 9pm, including Labour Weekend to Easter.  Winter hours are from 8am to 5pm.
